If you want to turn it into a political discution, here you go:]
the US has a oil driven economy, but not in the way you or everybody here thinks
Fact:
the US imports only 10% from the middle east, mainly due to the fact that there are no refinaries in the US to handle the sour crude out of the sauddies
they can stop tommorow importing from the middle east and no one will feel the differance
Fact:
There is more oil in the Alaskan reserve to last us another 50 years in the current usage......yet the idiot enviromentalist wont ket them drill....

The problem is in the oil futures market, its all pure speculations......
If there are market senses there are problems in the middle east, oil futures go up and so is the street price and the economy takes a dive

Therfore its this country's best interest to keep the middle east stable, oil futures down and economy up

How is Invading Iraq fits into all this.....I' dont know

yet it reminds me of a old proverb:
