Two versions of OziExplorer are supplied in this download a Shareware/Demo version and a Trial version - each has different feature and operational limitations, by using the 2 programs almost all the features of OziExplorer can be tested.
* The Shareware/Demo version is missing many features that you get in the full purchased version click here for details
o But it does allow full communication with the GPS for upload/download and moving map
o Only allows maps in BMP image format to be loaded
o Only loads maps in WGS84 datum
* The Trial Version has almost all the features of the full version (works with all supported image formats and datums) but with these limitations
o No communication with the GPS for upload/download
o No saving or loading of Waypoints, Events, Tracks etc
o No saving of map as an image file
o Will close down after 1 hour of running (must be restarted)
The extra features you get when you purchase OziExplorer
Purchasing OziExplorer will activate all the disabled features within the Shareware/Demo version
No Nag screen - The screen which displays the message unregistered when OziExplorer is started is removed.
User selectable datums - More than 100 datums are available. By specifying the correct datum OziExplorer can automatically convert coordinates between them as required.
User Selectable Map Projections - Many map projections are supported.
Local Grid Systems - The following grids are supported, UTM, British (osgb), Irish, New Zealand, Swedish, Swiss, France, Italy and User Grid coordinates systems, plus others.
Multi Point Calibration System - Up to 9 points to be used to calibrate the map. This means images which are rotated and/or skewed can be calibrated. By using more points an "over determined" solution can be found to provide even more accuracy.
Map Importing
* Import Map Images - Maps in any of the image formats which OziExplorer supports can be imported providing they have georeferencing information provided using one or more of the following methods - tfw, jgw, sdw files * geotiff (only selected tags supported) * USGS fgd file * mapinfo tab file (for raster file type only) * ecw images. This feature allows you to import these map images and create OziExplorer maps.
* Import BSB and NOS/GEO charts - This feature allows you to import these chart images and automatically create OziExplorer maps. Note - these charts are proprietary and are licensed for use in OziExplorer and cannot be saved to any other format.
* Import Maptech PCX and RML charts - This feature allows you to import these chart images and automatically create OziExplorer maps. Note - these charts are proprietary and are licensed for use in OziExplorer and cannot be saved to any other format.
MapView - This provides you with a small view of the map which shows a red rectangle which is the area you can see on the large map. You can the drag this rectangle over the small map and when released the view of the large map will change to suite. Waypoints, events and the plot trail also plot on the small view of the map.
Merge Waypoints and Events - For Lowrance/Eagle and Garmin Receivers only. When downloading Waypoints this provides the ability to merge the Waypoint with those already on the map.
Send Single Waypoints and Routes Direct to GPS - For most makes of GPS, a single waypoint can be sent directly to the GPS by point and click (right click on the waypoint and select option from menu). A single Route can be sent or retrieved from the GPS by pressing the buttons on the Route window.
Ability to alter Moving Map settings.
