The SynPower 5w40 is still the highly recommended and best oil for the TDI diesels, as the Premium Blue is more for the Heavy Duty diesel applicaitons. You are using the best oil right now for that application.

The Premium Blue Extreme 5w40 does work for the API CF rating, but a lot of times for the TDI Diesels, you will have to meet manufacture specifications instead of just the API. The SynPower will meet those manufacture specs.

CF is for passenger cars, vans, pick-ups.
CF-4, CG-4, CH-4, CI-4, are specifications for trucks.

Premium Blue is meant for trucks.
Such oils are filled up with additives which may pollute
the combustion chamber of your engine.

SynPower 5W-40 is tested according to ACEA standards and so
the quality of the oil is much higher than the API standards (CF) etc.

SynPower quality is high enough to handle the extra dirt coming
from the EGR system.

The circle date on the bottom of the can is the date when the plastic
bottle was made. it is not the filling date of the oil.

If oil is on a shelf in a dry warehouse in a closed bottle it will last 10
years.

But after 10 years you have an antique oil because the OEM specs go on and
on.
