Do a search on "air springs"
They been around for a while and they work great
I have a pair on the wifes Dodge Durango (they go inside the factory coils)
when I use it to tow, I pump them up, The total cost was less then $70 and well worth it(for towing or wight)
There are kits out there for almost any car and truck (US models) that you can think of, the 2 largest makers are air lift and firestone

Another veriation is "air shocks"
common on lets say, Chevy El Caminos from the 80's
The rear shocks had an air chamber in them that one could pump up to compensate for load
They are also sold aftermarket today, do a search on "air shocks"
